THE IRREGULAR CODE
The Irregular MANIFESTO is a public statement.
It tells you what we stand for, the principles we were founded on
AND
how we walk our talk, putting our values into practice.
Our Core Values and Guiding Principles
Irregular exists to create a more desirable world for everyone.
Where what is 'normal' is often harmful, we are proud to be peculiar.
We work for change: to imagine and shape a future based on mutual benefit, community and kindness.
We explore and experiment. We develop unconventional wisdom.
We influence and enable others to shape our world together.
We are consent-led, values-driven and shameless about challenging the status quo.
In the face of inequity, injustice and intolerance, practicing kindness and compassion is a quiet but important revolutionary act. “Love” is a doing-word. We will greet every new person we meet with kindness, empathy and unconditional positive regard. We treat ourselves with gentle kindness and we expect kindness from our community.
What is 'good', 'bad', 'right' or 'wrong' is a matter of perspective. Curiosity opens up the possibility of finding shared perspective, connection and common purpose. We don't pretend to have "the right answer" or "one true way" of doing things. We have lots of questions - thoughtful and useful ones - and it's fun to explore possibilities together.
...and the world we all need
Consent is not a tick-box or a barrier to getting what you want. Consent is our intentions and choices - to connect (or not), to use our personal agency, to express our will and our boundaries. Consent is a tool for social change and a practice for relating. It's an ongoing process, where all those involved or impacted by it are comfortable and secure enough to proceed.
Our uniquenesses are beautiful and valuable - there is no "normal". We want everyone to feel safe and comfortable in our spaces. We welcome and celebrate you, whatever your identity. You don't have to "fit in" - you already belong. It's everyone's responsibility to challenge systemic inequalities and injustices - including our own privilege and prejudices.
Practices to support our values and principles
FINANCIAL VALUE - RESOURCES - PRICING
There will always be some free and low-cost products and services available.
We encourage those who can to Pay It Forward, i.e. pay in full or pay a little extra when they can, or forgo the discounts we offer*
Staged payments and reductions are made available whenever possible.
If financial resources are still a barrier to access, a Pay What Feels Right option is available, no questions asked.
We trust our community to value what we offer and to contribute towards sustaining our work.
*We are a private company, not a charity or CIC - we pay tax on our income, including any Pay It Forward contributions we receive.
Pay What Feels Right
*Within the limitations of my own capacity to deliver services effectively, without causing harm to my well-being or that of my team.
CONSENT - COMMUNICATION - ACCOUNTABILITY
You can select how often you want to hear from us - our emails routinely give you an option to reduce mailings to weekly or monthly only.
We plan to continue to refine our email lists more, giving you themes to subscribe to/unsubscribe from, so you can choose what works for you.
There are clear ways for you to opt out of receiving emails about specific offers we're promoting if they don't interest you.
On our social media and shared online spaces, e.g. Zoom meetings, we offer guidance and facilitation, encouraging you to communicate in whatever way works for you.
We actively encourage dialogue and feedback and use this to inform the development of our work.
If you feel we are not delivering in line with our values, we invite you to let us know, so that we can try to learn and act differently.
Integrity means listening and learning
"Consent is so much more than a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Consent is about how we connect, with ourselves, with each other, and with the world we make together. Consent is transformative."
Jenn Wilson
ACCESS - INCLUSION - SAFEGUARDING
Video and audio content comes with closed captions and/or transcripts available.
In-person events happen in spaces that can be accessed by wheelchair and, if resourcing permits, sign language interpretation will be made available.
We use and encourage visual descriptions, where possible, to improve access for blind and partially sighted people.
Jenn Wilson is trained and experienced in trauma-informed coaching, restorative practice, counselling, mental health first aid, and safeguarding.
We will invite you to share your pronouns, and we will encourage all our community and clients to respect these.
We will ask if you have any additional needs that we can adjust our services to meet, and do our best to meet these, balancing them within our resources and the needs of others.
We make an effort to ensure all our approaches are neurodivergent-friendly. Jenn is neurodivergent (ADHD) and we recognise that support is not a simple, one-size-fits-all thing.
Where we recognise there may be sensitive, explicit or upsetting content, content notes are provided, and age-suitability guidance where relevant. We welcome enquiries about content/suitability.
We are proactive about inclusion and anti-discrimination work. We will not tolerate or enable discrimination in our spaces and communities on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, relationship status, age, ability, body shape or size, religion, socioeconomic status, or any other marginalised identity.
Sex work is work.
We reserve the right to remove anyone from our spaces, events and community if they behave in ways that we feel is harmful to others.
Safer Spaces for Everyone
“Connection is a basic human need, like shelter, food and safety. We are social animals, driven by our need for belonging, love, connection. Practicing consent is how we form connections that work for everyone, where everyone feels secure and comfortable enough to continue."
– Jenn Wilson
Irregular exists to shape a world built on connection and mutual support.
Our work inspires and enables more people to:
Unlock the radical power of your personal agency, enabling you to make choices based on your most meaningful ambitions, for your self and for the world we share
Live, work and communicate with openness, honesty and integrity; setting and holding boundaries that demonstrate kindness to your self and others
Build deeper, more trusting relationships with clients, colleagues, family and loved ones, as part of a global movement away from competition and towards community
...and the world we all need
"Think of a world shaped by connection – where everyone feels safe and has enough resources to live comfortably… where nobody is lonely and everyone feels they belong.
Imagine a future where everyone is OK.
This is the world I long for – and the focus of my life and
work is on exploring, shaping and constructing pathways towards it.
I am an activist for this imaginary future."

These policies on access, inclusion, equalities and diversity are live. (Additional details of which are in our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.) Policies are meaningless if they don't result in action - the IRREGULAR MANIFESTO shows you how we intend to put policy into practice. If we don't meet these standards, you are invited to question our integrity and hold us to account.

and the International Day of Consent
Like so many of us, I spent decades of my life trying to "fit in" with what was expected of me - with "normal" social standards. I wanted to make a success of my life, and I did OK - I juggled a career, a family, a home... but I was unfulfilled. I'd done what I thought I had to, not what I had chosen.
When I started questioning assumptions and doing what was right for me, I also began doing things that made a meaningful difference in the world and to the people around me.
I founded The International Day of Consent, a global day to focus on consent as the bold choice to show up for ourselves and each other - to challenge the inequalities and injustices we were taught to tolerate and to start shaping the world around our brilliant uniquenesses.
We'd love to see you in the Be More Irregular private Facebook group.
It's a friendly space to find connection and support, share updates and hang out online with other folks living life the Irregular way.
